## Verification method

Every PDF above was checked with `file` (confirms real PDF vs. HTML/JSON error page), `pdfinfo` (Title/Subject/Author metadata cross-checked against the target citation), and — for the two files with empty PDF metadata (Grove 2000, Van Dam 2018) — a direct page-1 read confirming title, authors, and venue. Several publisher/PMC endpoints returned Cloudflare or Google reCAPTCHA challenge pages disguised with `.pdf` extensions; these were caught by the `file` check (reported as HTML, not PDF) and re-fetched from an alternate legitimate mirror (institutional repository, author lab page, or Unpaywall/OpenAlex-listed OA location) rather than counted as success.

## Wave 2 verification method

Same as Wave 1: `file` type check + `pdfinfo`/page-1 `pdftotext` title match against the target citation, all confirmed correct. Items 29–32 are direct copies from the user's Zotero library at his explicit request (paths in the task brief) rather than fresh downloads; not independently re-verified against a live source this pass since they were already curated in his reference manager.

Several endpoints hit the same class of bot-blocking seen in Wave 1 (Cloudflare "Just a moment…" pages, PMC's proof-of-work JS shell, HAL's Anubis bot challenge, Wayback Machine 429 rate-limiting) and were caught by the `file` check and re-routed to an alternate legitimate mirror (author/lab page, Springer/OUP/Frontiers/PLOS direct, or OSF preprint) rather than counted as success.
